American Tap Dance Foundation is seeking tap dancers for the reconstruction of two master tap dance works choreographed by the legendary Brenda Bufalino to be recreated in June and performed in July at Tap City, the annual New York City Tap Festival. Aniversariantes – Barbara Duffy

Neste dia 08 de outubro comemora-se o aniversário de Barbara Duffy, a grande mestra, performer e coreógrafa que esteve no Brasil em diversas oportunidades, entre elas em 1995, 1996 e 2002. Duffy é considerada – por todos que já a viram lecionar, participaram de suas aulas e seus colegas de profissão – uma das melhores professoras de sapateado do mundo.

Ex-integrante da American Tap Dance Orchestra (hoje American Tap Dance Foundation, fundada e dirigida por Brenda Bufalino), atualmente é diretora da Barbara Duffy & Company.

Nos EUA – Winter Tap Intensive 2008

Para os sapateadores brasileiros que estão nos EUA: desde o último dia 01.12.2007, a American Tap Dance Foundation está aceitando inscrições para o tradicional “Winter Tap Intensive”. O workshop está agendado para acontecer de 15 a 18 de fevereiro de 2008.

Entre os professores da edição 2008 dos cursos estão Brenda Bufalino, Margaret Morrison, Tony Waag, Barbara Duffy e Derick K. Grant (os cinco já estiveram no Brasil), e mais Nicki Denner, Mercedes Ellington, DeWitt Fleming Jr, Jared Grimes, Constance Valis Hill, Kendrick Jones II e Parris Mann.

Cursos oferecidos pela American Tap Dance Foundation em Nova York a partir deste final de setembro de 2007:

Brenda Bufalino teaches Int/Adv Workshop – Tap Technique & Repertory

Class will focus on building technique, tone, texture speed and clarity. Developing material in a variety of modes: swing, bop, latin, musicality… learning words and melodies of standards and blues heads. Improvisation… improvising in multiple modes. Conscious improvisation leading to spontaneous composition. Trading fours, eights, and whole choruses. Simultaneous and collective group improvisation.

Ms. Bufalino will teach new original repertory, as well as repertory created for the American Tap Dance Orchestra which was founded in 1986 by master tap dancers Brenda Bufalino, Tony Waag, and the late Charles ‘Honi’ Coles.

From 1986 through 1999, the Orchestra performed in hundreds of concert, stage, and film projects and thrilled audiences around the world.

Susan Hebach teaches Fast Beginning Tap

Some experience required – Ages 13+. Students should know all the basics (such as: flaps, shuffles, cramp rolls, etc) and be able to put together basic technique steps within short combinations. Emphasis will be on developing combinations, learning a variety of time steps, and developing simple choreography. Class will feature a variety of jazz music.

When: Sept. 20th, 2007 – June 2008

Courtney Runft teaches Intro to Tap

Little to no experience required – Ages 13+. Students will focus on developing basic tap techique in an encouraging and supportive environment. Students will drill basic tap vocabulary and put together short, simple combinations. Class will feature a variety of jazz music.

Barbara Duffy de Idade Nova

Neste dia 08 de outubro, é aniversário de Barbara Duffy.
